1) Create your Family Plan

Go to Family and create a plan.

You can name it something simple like:

  • “The Johnson Family”
  • “Mom & Dad plan”

2) Choose an included tier

Pick the tier your family members should receive:

  • Essentials if you want a simple planning setup
  • Plus if you need more room for items, collections, and trusted contacts

If you are unsure, start with Essentials and upgrade later.

3) Choose Monthly or Yearly billing

Choose your billing interval:

  • Monthly for flexibility
  • Yearly if you prefer fewer renewals

Complete checkout to activate billing for the family plan.

4) Invite members

Use the invite box on the Family page.

You can invite members by email. When they accept, they become active members under your plan.

Tips:

  • invite one person first and confirm the flow works end-to-end
  • double-check email spelling (invites go to that exact address)
  • keep seat usage under five total people

5) Help each member set up their vault (fast checklist)

A Family Plan works best when each member does a small amount of setup:

  • add at least one trusted contact
  • create one “Emergency access” collection
  • store a few critical items (e.g., device access, recovery codes, bank references)

Use this guide as a starter: Digital legacy planning checklist.

6) Manage seats over time

As the plan owner, you can:

  • remove members who no longer need coverage
  • cancel invitations that were sent to the wrong email

If someone leaves the plan, they keep their account and vault data.
